Amaya Ford-Marrs is a native San Diegan who grew up in Skyline Hills. She started cooking and baking at the age of twelve, gaining inspiration from her favorite Chef Alton Brown and her grandfather Manuel Cass Sr. and from there started her journey in the Culinary Field. Amaya went off to the Art Institute of CA - San Diego and received her Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Management; then went on to The University of Alabama to receive her Master's Degree in Restaurant & Hospitality Management. She started Mya's Catering Company in 2018, as a means to create generational wealth for her daughter and to honor her Grandfather's love of tradition and family. From there, she left her full-time job to pursue the growth of her small bakery as a full-time owner and baker. Aside from baking the best nostalgic desserts in San Diego, Amaya spends her time teaching cooking classes at her home church and coaching the youth in Track & Field and Cross Country.
